Feeling Stressed? Here is a Great Stress-Relieving Tip

If you feel really stressed, run on the spot for 30 seconds.

You feel stressed because your flight or fight response has been activated. This means that you have adrenaline and cortisol flowing through your body.

If you were facing a physical danger, the adrenaline and cortisol in your body would activate the mechanisms required to get you out of the way of the danger. You would literally move out of the way of danger, most likely by running away. This movement uses up the adrenaline and excess cortisol that is flowing in your body.

Unfortunately, most stress is caused by emotional, mental and psychological “dangers” and you don’t move your body in order to get away from these dangers. If you did move your body after you experienced these stressors, you would use up the adrenaline and excess cortisol flowing through your body and your body would return to its unstressed state.

Running on the spot for 30 seconds will use up the adrenaline and excess cortisol and return you to a calmer state.

Do this anytime you are feeling stressed – before an interview; before doing a presentation; before an exam; before you meet your blind date; before going to your in-laws for dinner; after a confrontation; as you leave your workplace; after a tough slog in traffic; etc.
