Take a vagus breath.
The vagus nerve, which is the longest nerve in the body, runs from your brain all the way down to your lower belly and breaks into a billion different nerve endings at this point. The vagus nerve is responsible for activating your parasympathetic nervous system which is the part of your nervous system responsible for calmness as well as other activities.
Men thrive when the sympathetic nervous system is activated and adrenaline is released. As women, we do not thrive with adrenaline flowing through our bodies. We thrive when the parasympathetic nervous system is activated and oxytocin is flowing through our bodies.
To activate your vagus nerve allow a deep, loving belly inhale. Exhale through your mouth while making a joyful and pleasurable sound. This joyful and pleasurable sound stimulates the vagus nerve which then activates the parasympathetic nervous system.
In women, this breath activates the release of oxytocin. In men, this breath activates the release of vasopressin, a hormone that protects the heart.
This breath gives the message of peace to the mind and body. Do 5 breaths in a row and do this several times a day.
